My Experience at The Liana Trust

We all have a moment in our life or maybe many of them, where we have a hurricane of emotions within ourselves. There are also times when we don’t want our “happy moments” to pass by because they felt pretty quick, but that’s not what life is about. It’s like a sin theta graph, that goes up and down. I have pretty much seen all of them here at Liana Trust in Hunsur, Karnataka. I have seen my perception about conservation, snake rescue, field work and many other things change drastically, thus, bringing both confusion and clarity.

I came to Liana Trust on the afternoon of 1st January to get a more hands on experience with animals and I think I got way more than that. All these days I have done things that you can’t and won’t be doing while sitting in your room watching Netflix. Me along with my fellow interns ran around all day to open the enclosures, feed the animals, bask the snakes, clean enclosures, doing some construction stuff, again feeding the animals and then having a tea by the lake in the evening. To some this might not feel like a big thing and to some, it might be a fun and adventurous experience but out of all this my favourite part was when I got to talk to other interns and Gerry. Cause the abundance of knowledge you get is way more than any amount of money or time.

I know that it’s not the most wildlife thing that I usually write my blogs about but it’s an experience that would become an unfound treasure if not shared.

Talking a bit more about the experience, it was an absolute eye opener to understand, what it takes to do the field work every day, how much feelings you need to have for an animal and how much mentally and physically you need to give in, to do the amount of work done there. I really want to thank Rom, Gerry, Chandini, Ulaas, Anushka, Rinkle, Vivek, Pritha and Chandan for making it a great experience and making all the time I had at The Liana Trust worth way more than attending my online classes.

(This is not at all a promotion blog. I have written this out of my choice to share a glimpse of the great time I had The Liana Trust)
